My boyfriend/former friend just dumped me after 6 months because I wouldnt give him head! I am 64, hadn't had sex in 13 years and I gave it up to him. I was devoted to him and thats what he did. The sex was painfull and I worked very hard to change that and I did. Then he did that. I have been in several long term relationships and not one of them even asked me to do that let alone dump because I refused! I consider him a shallow man for that and now I am glad he is gone. Also, he knew that about me from the beginning.

Old man yells at cloud is what comes to mind. Long distance has challenges but so does any relationship. Things like incessant texting are not inherent nor limited to that kind of relationship. People can connect in many ways not just physically. You don't need to be in the same room to share a moment or do something together. I have been many long distance relationships and it was a challenge but worth it. Those relationships did not work out because of who we were. Not the physical distance between us. Im married now and glad that I do not have to be away from my wife. I just cannot get behind the basic presumptions this video begins with. Technology has always enabled new ways of living and getting to know distant people is a part of that. Saying one is more valuable or more real than the other has this ephebiphobic feel to it. I can understand why someone over the age of 40 may find these things to be hollow experiences. But for those of us who grew up or grew into these technologies the experience is just as real and valuable as doing things in person. I look at it as a personal thing. Some people feel as though the internet or digital interaction is a separate place from the real world. Look at the term "irl". This is from a time when the internet really was this wild west of anonymity and false identity. Now you have this massive piece of the economy operating online. Social interactions are online. It IS no different than something happening "in real life". The consequences of online behavior have real world implications. Forgetting that is why you have these people losing their jobs over something they posted or conversely having something they did in public posted online may affect their life. So it is very "real". Is it a substitute for in person contact? No. It is an expansion of the human toolbox. How well an individual is able to derive meaning from online experiences is a personal issue and not an inherent property of this tool we have. Some of us are genuinely happy and fulfilled having a large part of our social interactions taking place online. Some aren't. Both are ok. Both are valid. It is a bit provincial and backward to believe that there is falsehood to the emotional impact of online activity. An unsettling example is how it affects people emotionally when they are bullied online. It can be devastating. But because it can bring that devastation I believe it can bring sustenance to a person in need of human contact - provided they are able to derive it from that kind of experience. It is still a new thing of course and not everyone is used to it. I hope I am making at least some sense here.

I am new and I have listened to everything and learned much. I was happily married 40 yrs. Now I am a widow. A man I grew up withe up with contacted me about a year ago and I’ve fallen wildly in love with him. Dunmer. Not at all me. A vet that was a generals secretary in T S war planning during Vietnam. I dated a lot but guarded my heart until I met my husband. I am not happy living alone. I need someone to sleep with…both ways. My new love fits everything. We have history, like the same things, talk about history and politics. We have crazy hot chemistry. But I need more attention than he probably has time for. He drives Indy cars and has a thriving business with the cars and owners. I don’t think I could even keep up with his race season lifestyle. And sometimes I get the feeling his love is more affection. And I have affection and deep caring for him. But now I’m pulled back and forth between wild love and possible heartbreak. I keep telling myself to leave him behind and see what happens. So I did that a couple times, and he came looking for me and asking where I had been. At our ages, 71 and 77, we are fortunate to find emotional attachment and crazy sex. What shud I do? My friends think he isn’t respectful enuf of my needs…..mostly I need to hear from him. He makes me so happy! And at times so sad.

I agree about the lives. You’ve got to be able to mesh. I left a good good guy because our lifestyles were way off!! He had other issues that greatly upset me, but we truly loved each other . When you’re older (senior citizens for us ); you are very used to your life and in a pattern…it’s difficult to completely change your lifestyle for someone. I am willing to adjust somewhat; but this guy had his extended family in constant contact . Daily interruptions, demands , neighbors, etc He’d disappear for hours , have super close female friends and cousins , had a past of cheating . Jonathan is so so right!!!! Listen to him ladies. Love doesn’t fix it all!!

Yes, I hear what you’re saying. Makes a lot of sense. The thing is I have a friend that’s blind. That’s on a fixed income and his girlfriend is on a fixed income as well. Even though they don’t have a lot of money even between them the love is more powerful in their relationship. he does donate plasma for a little extra expenses, but that can only go so far. As far as me, I’ve always been unfortunately, to say the most responsible one in most of my relationships. I can already remember one that I was involved with, and that was my second love who was actually more of a provider and it was wonderful.!!! with that being said I did not care about his money. He was just naturally you could say more over the top generous. The one that Amy flowers took me out to dinner all the time and bought me things. The karmic soul tide that I’ve been dealing with doesn’t really have a problem with spending their money on me. It’s just that we only see each other certain periods of time due to lack of respect that happened during our connection. But when we do come together like for example, I did not ask over there, but he offered for me to hang out with him and a friend on the Fourth of July. Because my walls are still up and I know what I deserve knowing myself and that is knowing what I want in love I’m debating whether I should go or not. If I do go, I’m going as an acquaintance and observing his behavior why he inspired to ask me to hang out for July after all the stuff that’s going on between us over the last five years.
